The Best Ways To Pack Your Belongings

1.      Be careful that you do not pack too much weight

into a box to ensure that the taping does not loosen

and break.

2.      On each box, write down what is inside and which

room it belongs in on each side of the box.

3.      Wrap all paper items in plastic to prevent moisture

from accumulating.

4.      To keep separate, wrap every item individually in

either paper, old cloth, or foam. This will also make

them easier to unpack.

5.      To ensure that delicate items, such as china or

wineglasses remain intact, use extra paper, wrapping

each item several times.

6.      Wax any wooden furniture with wood varnish prior to

placing it  in  storage to prevent moisture from

affecting the wood. Dismantle furniture if possible,

and make sure to put the nuts and bolts into a plastic

bag taped firmly to the dismantled set. 

7.      Use thick cloths between wooden items to prevent

them from scratching each other.

8.      To prevent mattresses from losing shape and

absorbing moisture, wrap them in the special bags

available at hardware stores.

9.      To prevent rodents from getting into any food you

may be storing, put all food in plastic jars or other

containers, not plastic paper.

10.     Store electrical equipment in their original

boxes, if possible. Otherwise, wrap them as you would

any delicate items.

11.     Do not place CD’S in plastic wrap. If it gets too

hot, this may damage the CD’S.

12.     Apply a thin coat of oil to objects made of metal

or a similar alloy before you wrap them.

13.     Put mothballs inside boxes where you store your

clothes.

14.     Last but not least, remember to give yourself

plenty of time to pack so you do not have to rush.
